Lost the left buttons: how do I get them back?

I have been working on my first FP2003 web site. Had it working fine, but
made some changes and now the navigation buttons that used to appear on the
left of the page are no longer there. The buttons at the top of the page are
still there.

Can you point me in the right direction as to what I should look for to get
the left buttons to show?

I don't know. I'm using the navigation view and that created the left menu
options automatically. Assuming yes, how do I get it back?
