Lost Toolbar!

Naomi

Hi,

This sounds pretty silly but I can't find any way around
it!

The menu bar at the top of excel seems to have moved out
of it's normal position and into one at the top of the
screen on it's own, in such a way that I can't select the
blue bar (and hence can't move it back again). Is it stuck
there forever?

Thanks.

Hi Naomi!

I think the steps below will help you.
- Click on Toolbars on the View menu, then select Customize.
- Click on the Toolbars tab and select the toolbar you have problem with
(Standard?).
- Click on the button "Reset"

Have a nice day!

Thanks Stefan, but the toolbar that I've got stuck is
the 'worksheet menu bar' and when I reset this nothing
seems to happen!

Hi Naomi!

Thanks for your quick reply!

The setting for this is stored in the Registry, so I would suggest that you
follow the steps below:

NOTE: Before you modify the registry, make sure to back it up and make sure
that you understand how to restore the registry if a problem occurs. For
information about how to back up, restore, and edit the registry, click the
following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge
Base:

1. Exit Excel
2. Open the Registry Editor (Start, Run, "regedit" (without quotation marks)
3. Locate the key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\<version>
(see below for information)\Excel\Options
8.0 = Office 97, 9.0 = Office 2000, 10.0 = Office XP, 11.0 = Office 2003
4. Press the key F2 to rename the key "Options" to "Options_old", press
Return
5. Exit Registry Editor

What is the result now when you open Excel?

Best regards

If it's just off the screen, right click on the excel icon in the windows
taskbar (usually at the bottom).

Select Move
then use the arrow keys on the keyboard to move that window where you can see
it.
When you're happy, just hit enter to finish up.
