The one line of this log that pretty much tells the tale is:

Version: ??? (???)

That suggests that your Office 2004 installation is sadly in need of
updating. If you can launch any of the Office apps go to the Help Menu &
select Check for Updates. In order for that version of Office to function
effectively in OS X 10.6.x it needs to be fully updated to the 11.5.6 level.

If none of the apps will launch go to your Applications folder & launch
Microsoft AutoUpdate directly.

Alternatively you can use the Downloads page from Mactopia via this link but
you'll need the 11.5.5 update first followed by the 11.5.6 update. Click
Office 2004 in the Products column at the bottom of the page:

It would also be a good idea to set AutoUpdate to run automatically on
either a weekly or monthly basis.

That suggests that your Office 2004 installation is sadly in need of
updating. If you can launch any of the Office apps go to the Help Menu &
select Check for Updates. In order for that version of Office to function
effectively in OS X 10.6.x it needs to be fully updated to the 11.5.6 level.

If none of the apps will launch go to your Applications folder & launch
Microsoft AutoUpdate directly.

Alternatively you can use the Downloads page from Mactopia via this link but
you will need the 11.5.5 update first followed by the 11.5.6 update. Click
Office 2004 in the Products column at the bottom of the page:
