mac to office 2007

Hi,
I have a load of documents that have been created in the past on a MAC using
a program (I don't know which one) that enabled the documents to be opened
and used in Word and Excel 2003 on PC's. However, we have now upgraded to
Office 2007 and the documents don't open correctly. They open with the
formatting all over the place and huge chunks of text with mysql
information.

Is there a program that can be used on the mac that will look correct and be
editable on Office 2007 for the PC?

Unfortunately you leave out one of the key pieces of information: What is
the file format of the files? Are they .doc, .rtf, or some other extension?

Also, "formatting all over the place" doesn't really paint much of a picture
for those of us who can't see your files & mysql is database software, so
that reference is rather meaningless as far as what the "huge chunks" might
be.

If Word & Excel 2003 can render the files properly, however, there's little
reason why the 2008 versions shouldn't be able to do the same. It could be a
matter of how the files were transported, how they've been handled, or how
they're being opened - even differences in printer drivers & fonts can be
involved. There just isn't enough information to go on. Can you be more
explicit?

The only suggestion I can offer in the meanwhile is to try opening one of
the files in 2003 then Save As specifically using either the .doc or .docx
file format to save as valid Word documents. If successful there probably
are batch-conversion possibilities available to handle the rest of the
files. If nothing else, DataViz offers a program called Conversions Plus
which may be a worthwihile investment:
