Mac Users can not view site

M

Mike

Greetings all,

We have developed a website in M$ Frontpage 2003 that contains tables etc.
Windows users have no problems viewing, but we are finding that many Mac
users can not view it. I know that M$ puts a lot of bloat into the code and
am wondering if this is part of the cause or ??

In addition, if this is the cause, is there a program out there that will
strip this bloat out without affecting the actual code? Is there a better
(and cheaper) solution for a neophyte to be able to write this type of site?

For those that need the URL it is www.geoffhobson.com

Any feedback is appreciated.

TIA

Actually, it's not bloated code.
Using VML and absolute positioning are at least a couple of the problems, as
some browsers just don't like 'em.

If you are a neophyte, how would you know there was bloat in the code?

Also, learning the difference between an "S" and a "$" might make people in
a MS group more inclined to help you.

Geeze Bob, thanks ..... As it turns, the person that maintains this site IS
a neo. His decission was to use Frontpage (not mine) as it is a semi
no-brainer to use and it is he with the problem - I am just helping him with
the resolve.

Tom, we found the prolem - -

The Mac users needed two plugins and that solved the problem. One was a
Flash plugin (daaaaa - should have seen that one coming ;-) ) and the
other one I am not real sure about, but they knew what it was after we got
talking.

Thanks again for the help.

Mike,

Just as an aside..you might want to make some of those image files smaller...some of them are 300K each. That kind of bloat will certainly slow down your loading times!

HTH.

Bob's other point is still apt, though. That M$ thing was lame in the
beginning and it is now so old and tired it's just plain irritating.
Every time I see it, my response is just *sigh*, another one... We get
it: Microsoft has made a lot of money. We also get that M$ is supposed
to be an insult. Just let it go...

The point is that if you're asking for help in a FrontPage group (or any
Microsoft group for that matter), you might get a better response by
foregoing the M$ thing.

I apologize to the group.
