Macro on Form

I think I may be doing this backwards

I have the following fields that are a combo box and the source froma query
Class Name
ClassStartDate
ClassEndDate
Trainer

I want to be able to chose what I want in each field

Then I have a students name

Right now when I select the above including the student name, when I close
the form it updates the query. What I want to eliminiate is the close part
and be able to chose the student click the command button, it updates the
query (I tried refresh it didn't work) Then I should be able to choose
another student, without chaning the above 4 selection and update that
student. I have on average of 20 students I would like to do this for in a
single sitting.
