Macro template > document "save" locations

J

After getting the template macros sorted etc I find that when a new
document is opened from the template it defaults the "save" to My
documents and not the folder in which the template was located. Some
team members are saving their work to the wrong location and are
having trouble getting to the right folder to save it in.

What should go into the macro to change the save location of the
document which go opened.

this is one of the locations that is needed

This behavior is by design. The template should be saved in a Templates
folder so that it can be accessed via the New command. The default save
location for new documents is established by the setting in the File
Locations portion of Word's Options.

Fair comment - however our systems aren't that strightforward and
sometimes its work on a network and sometimes stand alone PCs laptops
etc so we tend to work from folders within the different teams.
Having everything going to My Docs means that docs get stored on hard
drives etc rather that a folder etc on the network...our setup is a
right mess, a mix of Social Services and NHS what a nightmare lol

thanks for your reply

One of the default file locations that can be set is Workgroup Templates,
which can be a folder on the network. The default save folder for documents
could also be a folder on the network, though this would cause problems for
an unconnected laptop.
