Macros and custom ribbon not visible if template not available

I have a variety of macro enabled word 2007 templates. The templates
site on a network drive.
A user creates a new document based on the template and saves it to
his hard drive as a .docm file. Disconnects from the network and takes
the computer home.
When the document is opened disconnected from the network, neither the
custom ribbon or the macros are available.

This seems to be a major flaw. Is there anyway to get round this? I
had assumed that the macos would be in the document itself as in
previous versions.

Macros and ribbon customizations are *not* saved from templates into
their documents unless you manually do some work to move them there.
You can use the Organizer (reached from the Alt+F8 Macro dialog) or
copy/paste in the macro editor.

Macros were never, in any version of Word, automatically transferred
from a template to a document based on the template. They're available
in the document only if the same template is still available to attach
to the document on opening.

Also, I meant to mention that the easiest alternative is for the user to
copy the template to his hard drive along with the document, and then
nothing more needs to be done to the document itself. See
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/MacrosVBA/DistributeMacros.htm for a
discussion.
