Can't help with so little info. Please post by including a concise summary
of your question in the subject line, and the full details of your question
in the body of your post. Always include your version/mode/SP level of
Outlook (from Help | About), what kind of mail account(s) you use, and any
other pertinent details.

Dear Customer,

Thank you for posting here. I appreciate that you have taken the time to
write to us. However, I am not quite clear about your concern. Do you mean
that the archive folder disappears or being deleted once logging off? If
so, in order to get a more concrete idea as to what the exact problem is
and how to resolve it efficiently, please let me know the following
information.

1. After what kind of action, the issue first happened?

2. If the archive folder will automatically disappear or being deleted once
logging off, is the PST file still existing in the local hard disk? Do you
need to manually add this PST file to Outlook next time?

Meanwhile, please try the following steps and let me know the result.

Step 1: Create a new Profile

Note: A new profile is a new environment for us to use Outlook. To create a
new profile is only for a test to see if the problem is related to the
corrupt profile of Outlook. Creating new profile will not do any damage to
the old profile.

You can refer to the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB)
for more information:

287072 OL2002 How to Create a New E-mail Profile for Outlook
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=287072

829918 How to create a new e-mail profile in Outlook 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=829918

If the issue persists, please continue with next step.

Step 2: Outlook Safe Mode

We can start Outlook with the "safe" switch to see if it works. Please
follow the steps below:

1. On the Start menu, click Run.
2. Input "Outlook.exe /safe" (without the quotation marks) and click OK.
3. Please perform a test to see if the problem still occurs.

Note: There is a space between Outlook and the forward slash (/).

If the issue persists, please continue with next step.

Step 3: Clear all Add-Ins in Outlook.

1. Start Outlook.
2. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Other tab.
3. Click Advanced Options, and then click Add-In Manager and COM Add-Ins
respectively.
4. In both Add-in boxes, click to clear the check boxes for the add-ins.
5. Click OK three times.

Please verify the issue and let me know the results so that I can provide
further assistance on this problem. I am looking forward to your reply.

Thanks & Regards,

Lee Li

Thank you Lee. Much appreciated.

A user will receive a message that their mailbox is full.
They have heard of archiving and so choose Archive from
the menu. Outlook offers a default location for the
Archive.pst file on the local C drive in the user's
(roaming) profile folder tree. The mail is archived to
the Archive.pst file in this folder. The user then logs
off, and the folder is not copied to the server, but is
deleted as it appears to be a volatile part of the
roaming profile. The user's Archive.pst file is of course
also deleted. When the user next logs on, he receives a
message that their archive file cannot be found, and all
their archived messages are gone.

This is happening to 7 users.

Many thanks

Disable autoarchive. It isn't getting deleted - but it may not roam. Keep
stuff in the mailbox!

Dear Customer,

Thanks for your update.

Based on my knowledge, the behavior happens due to the following cause. By
default, the Autoarchive feature in Outlook will archive old items as local
archive PST file. The AutoArchive feature runs automatically whenever you
start Outlook. Outlook checks the AutoArchive properties of each folder by
date and moves old items to your archive file. So if the Outlook creates a
local archive PST file, and if the file is not shared through internal
network, when you log on another computer, the Outlook will never verify
where the PST is stored. For more information about Autoarchive feature,
please refer to the article below.

830119 Description of the AutoArchive feature in Outlook 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=830119

And according to my knowledge, even the PST is shared through the network,
it is not a recommended solution by Microsoft. For more information, please
refer to the article below.

297019 Personal folder files are unsupported over a LAN or over a WAN link
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=297019

So considering current situation, first it is not recommended to use
Autoarchive feature for roaming profile. Please first log on the
workstation where you first implemented Autoarchive in Outlook, then click
Tools menu, click Option, click other tab, click autoarchive button, verify
the location to save the archive.pst file in "Move items to" box. Then go
to the location directly, then locate the archive.pst, and open the file
directly in the Outlook. You can even restore the file by import the
archive.pst file to your mailbox.

Hope this helps. If there is anything unclear, feel free to let me know.
Thanks and have a nice day!

Thanks & Regards,

Lee Li
