I am running Excel 2000 on a new Windows Vista machine using Windows Mail as
my email program.

When I go to send an excel doc as an attachment the option is greyed out.
It was not on my old Windows XP machine. It is really important to my work
that I have this option. Can anybody help?

Many thanks
Tracy

Thank you so much for replying - I did try this but it has not resolved my
problem. When I added the MAPIX=1 to the win.ini window, I got an error
message saying that Windows could not make that change.

I now still have the problem. Any suggestions? I am not very technical so
please reply to me as best you can.

Many thanks
Tracy

I post back after I test it

Thank you so much! Each time I try to amend the win.ini window, it just says
that Windows cannot write the file. My amendments are then unsaved.

I look forward to receiving your reply and am very grateful for your
assistance.

Many thanks

Hi Tlock

I install Office 2000 in Vista and setup a account in Outlook and Windows Mail
Very strange that if you use Start>Default programs Outlook is not a choice in the list.
Do you see that also ??

Because of the security in Vista it is not possible to edit/save the win.ini in the sysedit window.
If you not see the MAPIX=1 in the win.ini file

Go to C:\Windows and copy the win.ini file on your desktop and edit/save it there and copy it back to
C:\Windows

Btw: I have no problem with the attachments options after I install Office 2000 but it is very strange
that Outlook is not a option in Start>Default programs

Please post back after you try it

You are an absolute legend - if we were in an office, I'd take you for lunch!
That function is so important to me as I send about 50 Excel Spreadsheets
per day and without that function, my work would take me twice as long -
THANK YOU SO MUCH!

With regards to Outlook, I have had no end of trouble. I have about 150
distribution lists and masses of stored emails which I exported to a flash
stick before I got rid of my old computer. They were exported as .pst files.
When I got the new Vista machine, I planned to use Outlook as I always have
in the past but I could not get it to operate on my machine. It kept saying
that Outlook was not set as the default mail client when I had set it on
numerous occasions. I managed to import my contacts to Windows Mail but it
didn't transfer my dist lists across. I have spent all day recreating them!
With regards to my old Outlook messages, I have them stored on the Outlook on
my new machine but this Outlook does not work. At least I have them for
reference if needs be but I wish I could get them to Windows Mail. Outlook
is not showing on my default programs list.

Thanks so much for your help with the attachments program - I am so very
grateful.
