mail in out box does not get sent

I have seen this posted many times, but never an answer. Mail sits in my
outbox for days - when I test the account the results are "success" and the
test message is sent. I have run "repair" and have repaired through
add/remove programs. I am running Windows XP home and Office XP Pro.

Are the messages in your Outbox italicized or not? If not, you may be
running into a problem that many people are encountering with anti-spam and
anti-virus scanning of outgoing mail. If you have any software that does
such scanning, disable the scanning and see if that corrects the problem.
