MAIL LIST

We have a 10 page mailing list located in word 2007. Each name has an
associated address and sometime telephone number. Each name, address, phone
number is grouped together followed by a blank space between the next group.
The list starts at the top of the page and continues down to the bottom of
the page. No columns. Just page after page after page of mailing addresses.
The list is NOT bullet type or numbered. Just page after page after page of
mailing addresses.
Is there a simple way to alphabetize the list? To alphabetize the first
letter of the name on the first line of each group or something similar?
We are somewhat computer challenged when confronted with these types of
issues. Your help is greatly appreciated and welcomed.

If you truely are computer challenged you may find it easier to do this in MS
Word directly. Depending upon how the data is set up, you may be able to
covert your Text ( the mailing list) to a Word table. Word tables can be
sorted and you will not need to master any of the technical details of Access.
If help is needed, you can e-mail me at marshpinc at hotmail dot com
NOTE: I delete most email without reading so put Maillist table in subject
line

You might want to repost your question in a forum supporting Word. This forum
is for a different program, the database software Microsoft Access.

Access could certainly do the sorting for you, and may be a better repository
for your addresses than Word, but it's a complex program with a steep learning
curve, much worse than Word in that regard!

Word 2007 can sort. Make a copy to be safe.
Open the document, click 'Home' on the menu bar. Look in the section that
has 'Paragraph' label on the bottom. The top row has icon with 'A' above 'Z'
and a down arrow to the right of the letters. This will sort by paragraphs.

If you have a hard return at the end of each address then it will sort by
the leading characters of the line.

If your 'blank space' between the next group is a second hard return it will
be moved as it is sorted as a null.
