mail merge and field separator

Neo Kar Hoe

Hello,

When performing mail merge function with text file as the
data source, some PCs in my company could recognise semi-
colon ";" as the field separator but some PCs don't.

How could I change the mail merge setup so that all PCs
could recognise ";" as the field separator in a text file ?

Thank you.

Hi Neo,

which version of Word? Which version of MDAC? can you
ascertain if all these PC's have the Text ODBC driver
installed or not?

Hi Cindy,

Word is Word 97 SR-2 and MDAC is '2.7 RTM Refresh
(2.70.9001.0). all PCs have the TEXT ODBC driver
installed.

these PCs can only recognise common "," as the field
separator in text file, but not semi-colon ";".

Hello Cindy,

Thank you very much.

the problem was solved. i chose the first approach by
renaming the file extension to *.prn.
