Mail merge documents - troubleshooting

CJBookie

Hello again,
All of a sudden, I am having trouble with my mail merge documents. Again,
this is shortly after an update. Not sure why, but it seems like every time
I do an update, something messes up.
Any way, I have several mail merge documents on my computer. Each has its
own database that it merges to. They are all now not working correctly. In
the merge fields, it used to read like this: «Firm» - «First» «Last» and
they merged with no problem. Now they look like this: { MERGEFIELD First
MERGEFIELD Last } and do not merge properly. The merging looks like this:
{ MERGEFIELD MARTIN MERGEFIELD HAND }. Not sure what happened, and I tried
re-installing both Office disks, but that didn't help, either. Can somebody
help me???

Awesome, Anne! Thanks, it worked. I just don't get why these things change
"all by themselves". LOL That's why the "love/hate" relationship. Wish I
had the $$$ to take more classes for more knowledge. You all amaze me!

LOL. Love your signauture, Bookie. Turn off viewing field codes by hitting
Alt+F9. You should be all better now. :)

To be honest, classes won't likely teach you things like this. They teach
"how to", not troubleshooting. That's one of the reasons I posted all those
articles. They are, I hope, the things you WON'T find in a book (well,
except mine), in a help file, or in a training manual.

I am new to this. I am having trouble with mail merge but I don't know how to
ask a question? Whenever I hit the "new" button, nothing happens. How do I
ask a question?

For future reference, please start a new thread for your specific problem.

To start a mail merge most effectively, start it from your Contact folder in
Outlook.

Okay, stupid question, and I'm sorry this is so late. We just switched
internet providers and I seem to have lost my "notify me of replies" status
so did not get this reply.

WHICH articles??? Where can I find them, please? I just happened onto this
site one day while searching for an answer to a problem. I haven't done a
lot of searching for other stuff here.

Anne, you are the greatest! All of the techs here are great! There is so
much to learn and so little time. LOL

Oh, criminy! Never mind, I just realized what articles you are talking about
and how to access them! I should add, I'm BLONDE! And, today, I'm BLONDE
and on allergy meds, which, of course, could be a "dangerous" combination.
