Mail Merge Error

I have an excvel spreadsheet of names and addresses, however when I try
to mail merge I get "word could not re-establish DDE connection to
Microsoft Excel to complete the current task" Not sure what is
happening here but it sure wont work, any ideas how to resolve it
please?
