Mail Merge from Excel - number formatting

I am using an excel spreadsheet as my data source. Excel XP and WORD XP. I
have two problems with the merge.
1. When I merge a date into WORD from EXCEL it is formatted as August 10,
2003 in Excel and I want it the same in WORD but I get 8/10/2003. How can I
change this and get it to print out the long date OR even the long date with
day of week?

2. Same scenario but excel is set for currency in the cell formatting and
displays dollars and cents to two decimal places. I've even gone to Option
and check "precision as displayed to eliminate the extra 0's. When merged
with WORD I get two decimal places but when the cents end in zero, the last
zero is dropped, if there are two zeros, then only the whole figure is
printed with the ".00" dropped.
Any ideas regarding this matter, as I have to calculate back wages for
employees and both of these are critical.
Thanks Bob Reynolds
