Mail Merge in Word 2002

I'm trying to merge data using the Mail Merge Wizard. I'm
in word using an Excel worksheet with multiple worksheets
as my data source. Each time I chose the worksheet I
want to use I receive the following error: "Word was
unable to open the data source.". Additionally, I have
to use the options button in the "select table" box as
the worksheet does not show up. Once I'm in the options
box, I have to select all options (table, views, system
tables, and synonyms)to see the worksheet. I have moved
the excel file all over the place thinking perhaps the
original path is too long for Word to find the excel file
I'm running Word 2002, SP3
