mail merge missing from toolbar

I used mail merge months ago, but this month it is no
longer visible in my TOOLS toolbar in WORD 2000. Can it
be added (via Customize or Options) or do I need to re-
install WORD? I did not remove/delete it consciously, and
it has been suggested that a virus may be the reason it
disappeared, but I have had no virus problem on home P.C.
Tonight I downloaded a Microsoft update, but that did not
solve this problem.

Usually, yes - Tools|Customize|Commands, select category All COmmands, then
find and locate Mail Merge or MailMergeHelper in the command list and drag
it to your menu.
