Mail merge photo resizes when printing

Please Help me with this problem! After mail merging a photo to a
word document, I then resize the photo by dragging the handles to
increase the size. Just as it is sent to the printer, the photo size
jumps back to the original size and prints as the smaller size. How
can I prevent this from happening? I am using OfficeXP with Windows
XP. and an HP 870CSE Inkjet printer. Any help would be appreciated.
