Mail merge to excel

I created an excel spreadsheet and did a mail merge to
word. The problem is that I have apparently lost the
excel data. Is there a way to convert the mail merged
file back to excel?

It depends on what the data looks like.

If it was a real letter, it could be pretty difficult to pick out the text to
save.

And this assumes that you have all the merged documents!

If you merged to a new document, and saved the file when you were
finished, you could probably salvage the data.

Open the merged document, and choose File>Save As
Save the file with a new name, so you don't damage the original

Then, use Edit>Replace to replace the standard blocks of text with
spaces or tabs, leaving only the merged data. There's a limit of 255
characters to the Find/Replace string, so you might have to do the
replacements in chunks.

Copy the remaining data to Excel
