Mail merge with outlook express causes and error

Everytime I attempt to set-up a mail merge using my contact list from outlook
I receive and error message and my document closes. Any idea why this
happens and can I fix this problem?

You said Outlook Express in your Subject and Outlook in your message. Which
is it? Mail merges only work with Outlook. If you are using Outlook, you
would need to provide a great deal more information for anyone to help you:
versions, exact steps used, etc.
