Mail reception delayed in Outlook 2003 with Exchange 5.5

We just switched from Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2003. We're currently using
Exchange 5.5. With the older version of Outlook, mail sent between our
Exchange users was received within seconds. With the newer version, it can
take a few minutes, or sometimes as much as ten minutes, for a message to
show up in a user's Inbox. Is there some issue with Outlook that's causing
this? Is there some setting that I missed? Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks.

This may be the difference between cached mode (the default in Outlook
2003, and only present in Olk 2003) and online mode (which was what you
were using in Outlook 2000). Check the properties of the Exchange accounts
and see if the "Use cached Exchange mode" box is ticked. Unticking it
should lead to messages showing up as soon as they're delivered to the
Exchange mailbox, but also means that if the server is down you'll be
unable to access mail. In cached mode, your mail has been synchronized
locally and you can work in your mail even if Exchange is down.
