mail server has disappeared--how to reset

until just recently I could email from word, excel or any
other program as well as from web sites--now get error
message that server is not set up and it won't send--can
only email from my email provider area--very frustrating,
have tried my PC for dummies and it has some XP issues but
not this one that I can find--need to know where and what
to do to restore ability to email documents, webpages, etc

You can only email from Word (or Office applications) if you have Outlook
setup to email through your ISP. Open Outlook and send a test email to check
it is set up correctly.
