Mailbox size

Hi, at what point does your mailbox size start to effect performance ?

we have a number of users with 3gb+ mailboxes, and even in cached mode they
frequently see the "Outlook is trying to retrieve data...." message

Depends on your available resources. You can use Performance Monitor to
determine whether the performance issue is client side or server side. In
general 3GB is a very large mailbox. If these mails should all be kept as a
company policy consider Exchange based archiving.
