Mailmerge - missing fields

F

fred

Hi,

Just running a mailmerge from BCM 2007 via Word 2007, through a campaign.
I am unable to map the "Title" (Mr, Mrs, etc) field from contacts in BCM
through to the mailmerge in Word. Am I missing something, or is this a
major omission / bug?

When sending formal letters I need to be able to use the form: "Mr Fred
Smith" in the address block, then "Dear Mr Smith" in the greeting line.
This does not appear to be possible, as I cannot access the Title /
Salutation from Word. I guess I could use one of the other fields that is
exposed to Word mailmerge for the title, but this seems a little backwards,
and means I will have to edit all my contacts.

Any ideas...?

Hi Fred,

Dont expect a response back from anyone at Microsoft.... i have been having
alot of problems with the same issue as you.... it seems they "forgot" to put
the feature in to word to allow the additional and Custom fields that you can
create in BCM to be available in word for Mail Merge....

However i have managed to do a temporary work around using VBA and Content
Controls....

I HOPE Microsoft are dealing with this "forgotten" feature, and will tell us
soon in one of my many post i have asked to let us know when a service pack /
update is available.... becouse at the moment its like useing inferior
software, not new technicaly advanced Office that Microsoft made it out to
be....

Hi Martin and anyone who has resolved this or created a work around,

That is exactly what I need as well.

I have a significant marketing activity to undertake now and this issues
leaves it dead in the water. Unless I go back to an old version of Goldmine
and work it from there. Not something I want to do.

So if anyone can advise, provide a solution - Microsoft - or work around I
would appreciate it as I am sure others will.
