Mails not being sent

Dear All,

Automated email notifications are not being sent to the team members. SMTP server info is correct. What can be the problem? Is it that the from email is has to be present in the Active Directory or some other problem? Is it that the service uses outlook profile which needs to be configured?

Try to check the following:

- The port setting is correct (usually 25)
- The from-email-address has permissions to send email. You may need to
create an AD-user with this name, and enable the email account, depending on
the security settings for your SMTP-server.
- Are there any error messages in the event viewer related to this issue?

Is the email going from the sharepoint site ok. Try to seperate the problem
from proj web server and the sharepoint sites.

I did set the port number but now when i publish the project the spooler keeps working. Also the project gets updated on the project center but not the assignments. When I try to close spoller it says that "message has not been sent to team members..."

Mails are being sent from Sharepoint.

The current setup is:
Project Server 2003 on Windows Server 2003
Project Professional 2002 on Windows NT
