Main three components don't talk to each other.........

I have created many versions of the Secured file, the Toolkit file, and the
database. I can't seem to trace which of the three pieces that my working
system is using. How can I get the correct three main parts that are being
used when I open the system with shortcut. All the props of the shortcut say
is "start in" a folder. I only have one toolkit in the folder, and when I
try starting using the toolkit, I get a "no permissions on switchboard
items". Yet the shortcut works fine by opening up a logon/password dialog.
