Make a cell unselectable

Hi All,

Is there a way to make a cell or a range unselectable
while keeping it visible in the worksheet. Thanks for
your help.

Protect the cell, first select all cells, do format>cells>protection and
uncheck locked, then select the cell(s) in question and repeat
but select locked instead, finally protect the sheet
(tools>protection>protect sheet) and depending on excel version you might
have to uncheck or check
some options while protecting it
