Make a clean column break...

Arlen

I am trying to make a 2-column document with shading and borders applied to
the right column only.

However, when I insert a column break in Col 1 in order to force Col 2 and
then apply shading, the shading carries over to the column break in Col 1 as
well. I played around with it for awhile and made the shading disappear
once, but that was awhile ago and my method was not scientific, nor, it
seems, reproducible. And thus, I beseech you, the experts, for knowledge.

Does anyone have a sure-fire method for dealing with the column break
shading paradox?

Thanks,

Arlen

When this happens with page breaks, we advise using "Page break before"
formatting. Unfortunately, there's no "Column break before" formatting, so
you'll have to use another workaround: Apply "Keep with next" and "Keep
lines together" formatting to as many paragraphs as required to force them
into the second column.
