Make all old (eg. all before year 2009) appointments private

I need to make all appointment before year 2009 private. so that they wont
appear in shared calendar.

Group your calendar by Sensitivity, then select and drag the messages you
wish to change to the Private group.

I typed "messages" instead of "events", but the same principle applies.
