make contacts address book default

How do I make Office contacts as the address book default. Every time I
select "To" when preparing an email, I have to wait a near eternity for it
try to connect then give me an error message of "LADP" no available, then I
get to select 'contacts' from a laundry list of selections.

REmove the LDAP option from your email accounts->directories.
