Make DocVariable field Bold

I have a DocVariable field in a Word template header {DOCVARIABLE MeetingType
\*MERGEFORMAT} that I would like bolded upon being updated. I've tried
selecting the field in my template and making it bold, but all new documents
created from the template show the field as non-bold.

Is there a switch I can add to make this field bold? Thanks!
