Make rows smaller?

I am in Microsoft Project 2003 and we are on a project server. We created a
new project and the rows are too tall. I want them to autofit to my text so
there's not so much white space. (I already tried dragging the bottom of the
rows) The only place I found where I can adjust the row height is if I go
into View > Tables > More Tables, and then edit the table name I created.
The row height says "1" and if I try to make it 0.5 or anything smaller than
1, I get an error message saying the row height needs to be between 1-20. In
this same box, I even selected the box that says "auto adjust row header
heights", but that did nothing when I hit the Apply button.

It's only a nuisance right now, but further down the road when we add more
tasks to our project, it will end up printing out way too many pages because
the rows take up so much space. Please help. Thanks!

Ideas:

: reduce the font size (Arial Narrow 8 pt or less). Offhand i don't
know what the row height numbers mean, but they appear on
experimentation to be related to font size, e.g. row height of 1 with
font size 16 point is bigger than row height of 1 with font size of 7.
: on the page setup (from Print Preview), you can scale the output to
get more on a page.
