Making a Software Demo

Can anyone tell me how to make a demo for instructive purposes ie showing a
relative how to use a software product via Windows. What program is used?

Thank you.

What you want the final result to be? A video? A paper tutorial with screen
shots? A on screen tutorial with screen shots? What software product?

Hi Beth

Can you please explain how the Microsoft Office demos are made, in the MS
Office Demos Show Case for example? How would I go about creating a software
tutorial demo conveyed through Windows Media Player, showing the step by step
mouse moves & clicks in a windows dialogue such as Word. Which program is
used? In your previous email response you said you can do this with
PowerPoint; can you please explain how?

Thanks again

Jeff

Well, now you're giving us some details on what you are trying to
accomplish - that is always helpful. :)

You can use Camtasia Studio for this:
http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia.asp

Alternatively you can use the Community Clips recorder:
http://communityclips.officelabs.com/Default.aspx

The Community Clips recorder isn't a robust as Camtasia but it will enable
you to record the screen along with voice and it's free. If you do use the
Community Clips recorder make sure you experiment first with your screen
resolution/display/etc and if also recording voice, your microphone.

Hi Beth

One last question unimportant question as it may sound! When I am online
with Microsoft using (IE 8 Beta), the Microsoft Logo in the top left hand
corner of my screen is not displaying correctly; it displays as a red
rectangle. I have installed Silverlight, but still the problem occurs. Can
you please advise?

Thanks
