Making Excel less "helpful"?

R

Repeating Decimal

In Excel 2001,I am getting all kinds of unwanted "help" by the application.
It is like having my mother tie my shoelaces for me whether I want it or
not.

In particular, when I type in an e-mail address or the like, I get a
hyperlink that opens a new e-mail form. I know how to use the hyperlink to
undo that, but I would prefer the hyperlink never to happen. The Excel help
tells me how to undo it, but not how to kill the (un)helpful Henry. What can
I do?

I have other problems that could by solved by dumbing down the application/

Well, WinXL users had to suffer through a couple of versions with
this "feature" before it became a preference that one could turn
off, so MacXL users may see relief in the next version or three.

In the mean time, CMD-Z is the easiest way to deal with the problem.

I've been meaning for some time to post an automatic method that I
use which uses VBA Application Events - I'll dust off the web page
and post it soon.
