making forms in access "Stand alone deliverable"???

B

BigJeff

I created a form in access... and I'm wondering if there is a way to make the
form "deliverable" to the user without them having to actually open up access.

No, there isn't.

Ok, I have to ask, what in the world continues to persist this [belief |
impression | rumor] that Access applications can be converted to a
stand-alone EXE? I have been answering that question since about 1992.

Actually, I think this is a variation on that basic question. Wanting to
distribute an entire application as an executable is one thing: I believe
this is just a request to be able to send out "something" to users and allow
them the ability to return input that can be incorporated into the database.

Recently we (the Access MVPs) were contacted by Microsoft to provide input
on a specific matter. Since Access doesn't provide this capability, they
were reduced to sending us a spreadsheet that we returned so that they could
consolidate all of our feedback. I pointed out the irony of this to them.

I just don't answer those questions any more. I don't really blame the
people who ask. There will always be new users. And not everyone knows about
Google. But there are only so many times you can answer the same question.
Messages with phrases such as 'stand alone' and 'add item to combo box' just
don't make it past my filters any more.

heh. Remember when Access used to ship with actual paper manuals that you
could read?

I almost can't blame newbies for asking "dumb questions" when I see such a
rotten help system. Like if I try to lookup something about how to phrase a
certain clause, and the stupid paperclip wants to help me change the font.

OH I wish Office had help as excellently done as the MSDN Library!

These days the MSDN library *is* the Office help system.
