making graphs or charts

I am in need of knowing how to generate charts that I can
insert into a presentation? I have tried power point,
excel, and word but can not find the right path to try?
Any help is appreciated. Windows 98 second edition with
office 97. Thanks, Tony

Without looking outside of MS Office, Excel is by far the best bet for
creating charts. What problems specifically did you have when you tried
Excel?
