Making new website using frontpage office 2003 version?

O

odyssey

HI! when I try to make a new website using frontpage ( the version that
comes with office 2003) I get an error message. ( The Web server
(mywebserver) does not appear to have windows sharepoint installed.)

I have other website sites at this server which was created with frontpage
98 and 2000 but since this version I get this error. what am I doing wrong ?

If I need to installed the sharepoint extentions how do I? and where is it
located?

My system is a windows 2000 proffesional system. ( NTFS Fat).

Thanks in advance :)

Howdy.

Whatever you're doing, it apparently requires Windows
SharePoint Services (WSS), which is a feature of Windows
Server 2003. An administrator must install WSS on teh
server.

What, exactly, are you doing?

What version of the FP SE are on your IIS
FP2003 works best w/ the FP2002 SE or the WSS
To install or upgrade to the FP 2002 SE see

HI! my FrontPage server extensions are 6.0.2.5516
I see my other sites that I have previously made before the upgrade in
FrontPage that are marked by a globe icon but when I try to create a new one
now it starts and says "creating website" but ends quickly with no error
message and back to the options box where a started. ( like its doing
nothing.) in the "specify location for website" box I put
"http://my_computer_name/new website name " ( I use
http://my_computername/myothersites to access them).

Is there something that I am doing wrong here.? is there something else that
I should check?
My actual are configured to be my inetpub folder under wwwroot. and that's
where I checked for the server extensions.

FrontPage can not create a website on a server!

If running Windows 2000 Pro or Windows XP Pro you can only have a single web site, this is call the
default (root) web site and is created when IIS is installed and may or may not be accessible until
use open the IIS MMC and configure the FP extensions. FP however can create subwebs /subsites under
the default (root) web, as long as FP can access the default (root) web.

On Windows 2000 Server or Windows 2003 Server you can have multiple root webs, however these are
create via the IIS MMC. Again FP can not create the web sites, it can only access them once they
have been created via the IIS MMC and the FP extensions or WSS (2003 Server only) is configured.

On Windows 2000 Server or Windows 2003 Server you can have multiple root webs, however these are
create via the IIS MMC. Again FP can not create the web sites, it can only access them once they
have been created via the IIS MMC and the FP extensions or WSS (2003 Server only) is configured.

Is there something that I am doing wrong here.? is there something

All you have to do to create a subweb/subsite, is open the root web in FP, create a folder, then
select the folder, right click and select convert to web. That it. You can also convert
subweb/subsite back the a folder by selecting the subweb/subsite, right click, and select convert to
folder.
