Manage Editable Regions - DWT

B

Brenda

Does copy/paste (copying from an existing document) and pasting into an
editable region, using a DWT work? I should probably ask if it is SUPPOSED
to work.

I am starting with my index.htm on my website:
http://www.atlasfamilychiropracticonline.com/

I then saved the index.htm as index.dwt and created 2 editable fields ~ one
for the header and a second one where the current graphic is, naming it
"body".

My intention is that each page will be the same, with the header changing
from page to page, as well as the body text.

I have one page set up on the website named "doctor.htm" (the first link on
the left column.) I thought I would try to set that page up, using my new
DWT.

I opened a blank page and attached my DWT. Everything seems to be working
all right until I went back to my "doctor.htm" on my hard drive and did a
"copy" to get the text from the body of that page. I then went to my new htm
page using my DWT, and tried to "paste" into the "body" section, but nothing
pastes... I can type into that area, but don't seem to be able to PASTE into
it.

Am I missing a step, or is it not possible to paste using a DWT?

Thank you,
Brenda

Paste should work
- make sure you are selecting inside of the editable region
In your DWT make sure the editable region has some content so it is easier to select
- you can insert some default text you then replace or just a Comment

Stefan,

Thank you. I think I have read that editable regions are not supposed to
have tables within them, but is it all right to have an editable region be
within a table?

Thank you,
Brenda

There is nothing to stop you placing a table, or several tables, within
an editable region. You can also have an editable region within a
table, but this will be restricted to a single table cell.

<td><!-- #BeginEditable "onSpec" -->some html stuff here<!--
#EndEditable --></td>

In this case, you cannot spread the editable region across several
cells.
