Managed Periods and Protected Actuals

Protected Actuals are available if you set the option to Protect User Updates in the Task settings and display option within Time and Task Management section within Server Settings in PWA.

Does this option apply regardless of whether or not you have Managed Periods enabled in the Fiscal Periods option within Time and Task Management section within Server Settings in PWA?

If an organization is not using Managed Time Periods, the Actual Work Protected field is irrelevant. Hope this helps.

Thanks Dale,

So the two go hand in hand, there is no point setting the protect option In Task Settings if Manage Periods is not enabled in the Fiscal periods option. Makes sense, just wish it were a bit more obvious.

The setup of Managed Time Periods in Project Server 2007 is much less obvious that it was in Project Server 2003. And believe me, it was NOT obvious in Project Server 2003 either! To learn more about how to set up Managed Time Periods in Project Server 2007, refer to the following Blog posts:
