Managing leaving resources in the pool

J

Jan M.

What are the best practices to manage the resource pool when resources are
leaving the company?

Should they be inactivated? deleted? booked as proposed?... What works best?

I want them out of resource and assignment views, but I'd like to see them
in the analyzer views for estimating purposes:

I use an enterprise resource outline code field for the different
departments in our company. I would like that the resources who have left to
appear under their former department in analyzer views. This would prove very
useful to estimating work by department for new projects.

Thanks for sharing your ideas and experiences

I would recommend not to delete a resource if you want historical information
of resource. You can create an outline Code Inactive and make the resource
inactive while changing the outline code to Inactive. Use the filter in the
view not to show inactive resources.

When you inactive a resource keep their department information and you will
be able to see that information in Portfolio Analyzer.

Thanks
