Manually enter remaining hours per time period

Is there a way to schedule an assignement where the Project Manager
can specify an exact number of hours for a given week. For example, an
assignment on one task needs to be scheduled for 20 hours one week and
10 hours the next and alternate like that until the end of the year
(ie 20, 10, 20, 10, etc.).

To set up an assignment such as this, first assign the resource to the task
at the maximum Units they will work in any time period over the task over
its life. So, if the resource will work 20 hours one week, 10 hours the
next, etc. then assign the resource at 50% Units (20 hours out of a 40-hour
work week). Once you have done this, then apply the Task Usage view and
located the task and assignment in question. Zoom the timescale until it
shows Months over Weeks, then retype the Work hours for the assignment in
the timephased grid (yellow/white timesheet) to match your needs over the
life of the task. Hope this helps.
