Manually Input Numbers

I am currently a new user with access and dont know the entire features of
the program yet. I created an Asset Tracking database using the on my
computer templates. First, how do you manually input numbers on the asset id
field box when entering new assets and assign it to someone for check out
purposes??

You can't 'manually input numbers' on the assetId because it i
AutoNumber. Fill in the other text boxes and you will see AssetId wil
increment itself.. 1, 2,3....
AutoNumber is used for PK. If you want to input AssetID you have t
change Data Type of Field Name AssetID from autonumber to tex

Or add another field to the table and call it ASSET-ID or something
like that and add it to the forms etc to manually enter the "number"
there.
