Map option

RT

Hi

I'm running office 2000 under win 98

I am trying to use the Map options in Excel
I installed the Icon on the toolbar
But when I try to use it it says that MAP is not installed
So I use my CDs and try to add the option
Then it says that the map option is installed during first installation

Neverless i do a repair just to be safe
But no result, still the same message

So then I do a full re-install
But the results are still the same

As anybody got a clue of what is happening

By the way I am using a fully official registred version
so there is not something missing on the CDs

Thanks for any advice and help

Rex

P.S. I am in Belgium (that's a small country in Europe) so if any of you
reply during US time zone I will only be getting back to you the next day

Hi RT

sorry i can't help you solve your problem but i just wanted to "warn" you
about using the MAP feature .. MS dumped it in 2002 - if you have a look at
help in 2002 it says:
********

Microsoft Map is not available with Microsoft Excel 2002. You can open maps
created with an earlier version of Excel, but you can't modify the maps or
create new ones. To create maps that can be used in Excel 2002, you can use
a mapping product such as Microsoft MapPoint. For more information, see the
Microsoft MapPoint 2002 Web site.

*********

in 2003 things get even worse:

*********

What happened to the Map tool?
The Map tool is no longer available with Excel 2003. You may not be able to
open files created with the Map tool unless you have an earlier version of
Microsoft Office installed.

*********

So if you're are planning on upgrading at any point you might want to look
at other solutions rather than the map feature anyway.
