MAPISP32 Caused an Illegal Operation

J

I get the MAPISP32 caused an invalid page fault in module MINET32.DLL error
when trying to receive mail in OL 97.

I've tried the resolution in KB266340, replacing the MINET32.DLL, but to no
avail.

I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office completely and still
have the same problem. Temporarily, I have moved the user to Outlook Express
and have had no issues.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you try renaming all mapi32.dll files and reinstalling Outlook 97?

Yes, I renamed both the mapi and the minet32 files.

We have no way to troubleshoot versions that have been unsupported for this
long unless you have a clue as to what produced the problem.
Outlook 97 provided none of the MAPI repair options that exist in current
versions.
This is the oldest reference I can find:
