Margin Error

my margins in word are set at one inch on the left and
right. when i open up word, te ruler indicates that the
margins are indeed one inch. when i go to page setup, one
inch. however, when i start typing, the program
automatically enters my text at one and a half inches on
the right. i have to fix this by moving the right hand
margin somewhere, and then putting it back to one inch.
anybody know how i can fix this; i've already tried
reinstalling word.
