Margin wierdness

Dave

I need to change the margins on several documents.
Sometimes when I do, everything works just fine, and all
of the text is pushed in to account for the new, wider
margins. Sometimes, however, some areas won't push in.

At first I thought I was neglecting to tell Word to adjust
for the whole document (as opposed to just certain
sections), but that is not the case. Often, I get messages
saying that the text falls outside the margin when I try
to adjust the margin! How can I get all of the text to
adhere to the new margins I'm attempting to apply?

In the documents causing trouble, are you using text boxes,
graphics or objects? These are in the drawing layer and must be
handled separately.

Also, a table won't adjust its size to the document margins,
unless "Automatically resize to fit contents" is selected in the
Options dialog box, available in Word 2000 and later (in order to
display the Options dialog box, first make sure that the
insertion point is in a table, then select Table > Table
Properties, and click the Options button).

Yet another possibility is that a paragraph could have a negative
indent, which means that it at least partially runs into the
margins. For indent settings, use Format > Paragraph and check
the settings for "Indentation".

Hope this helps...
