Margins do not appear as they are entered

A particular computer in our area often misalignes the text. The margins are
listed as being 1 in. but the right margin appears to be 3 in. Looking at
the ruler, it's as if it doesn't know it is an 8 1/2 in. page, rather a 7 in.
pager. Thus, centered text is off centered, as are all other formats! A
document was emailed to me and all the formatting information looks correct -
tabs, gutter, margins, page size, etc. There must be something set up
incorrectly in that computer as a default, but I can't even align it
correctly on mine, which aligns properly.

Does it print wrong? What view shows the misalignment?

All documents on this computer, or only certain documents?

Word documents. It prints improperly. you can see the misalignment on page
layout view and I think on normal, too. Thanks

The document may be set up to print "Document with Markup" when you
really only want to print "Document". Try clicking on File | Print |
Print what: Document | Page Range: Current page | OK. (This will cause
the current page to print.) Hopefully this will fix the Print Layout
view and Print Preview.

And see http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=325527 "WD2002: Document
Printed with Wide Right Margin and Small Text If You Turn Off Balloons"
for another possibility.
