margins for 11 x 17 page

I'm about to start a new doc that'll go in a landscape 11" x 17" page,
i.e., width of page is 17", height 11".... but when I set the page
margins (1" for top, left, right, & bottom, & I might have to set them
even smaller than that) Word forces the left margin to 6.17", and the
bottom margin to 2.67".. why is this?? thank you...

Most likely a problem with the printer driver, especially if this is Word
2002 and/or an HP LaserJet. A new driver may help, especially if it is one
of the "Margin fix" drivers from http://www.hp.com/pond/ljbeta/index.html.
