margins in Acess 2000

I am currently in a class for Access 2003, however I use Access 2000 at home.
I was told by the teacher that would work, however I am having a problem
with an assignment. I downloaded this file from school and opened up the
table that was already created. All I have to do is sort a certain column in
decending, highlight the first 10 records, go to page setup and change to
landscape and the left and right margins to one-half an inch and adjust each
column width so that all records fit on page. I did that closed out the DB
and reopened it and the margins revert back to 1" and portrait. Then since it
did not stay at landscape my records did not show on one page. Do you have
any suggestions. Could it be that I am using 2000 instead of 2003?

The problem may be that you need to Save while the report is in Design mode.
You also need to Turn off AutoCorrect in Tools ... Options, and/or make sure
that you have all the service packs installed for Access 2000.

Thank you for your response.
I was in the Datasheet view making all my correction that needed to be done
and saving, when I look in Design View I do no see a place to change the
items in my assignment. I went into Tools/options/general and there is no
check mark in Track Name AutoCorrect Info. Is this the area you are talking
about? I also see where to set margins on this tab, however if I change them
there that will make it a default correct, which I don’t want to do for
everything? I also have all the service packs available (SP3).

A datasheet is not a report, and the settings cannot be saved. Neither can
the settings for a query or table datasheet be saved. Report settings can be
saved if, while in Design View, they are first changed in Fole ... Page
Setup, then the report is saved.

Yes, the Track Name AutoCorrect should be Unchecked.

OK, I think I understand what you are saying, sorry I am new to this. Since
this is a table that was created by my school it cannot be saved with any of
the changes unless it is made into a report correct? If this is a case, I
have to create a report based on the table then it will save my changes? By
the way what is Fole?

Datasheet is meant for quick viewing only. Even though Access allows you to
print a Datasheet, the page settings / column width setting are not retained
with (the design of) the Table / Datasheet regardless of the version of
Access software you use.

Arvin meant File and not Fole ...

No matter _who_ created the Table, you cannot save the settings for the
Table.

You need to clarify with your teacher what the assignment was meant to
accomplish -- it may be that the point of the assignment was for you to
learn that you could not save the settings; it may be that changing the
settings temporarily and printing the datasheet was the point...

"Fole", I would guess from the context, is a typo for "File".

Thank you Larry, I am waiting on a response from the teacher. My guess is
that since this is an internet course and we do not print that it was just
for us to know how to do this.
